St Thomas Primary School is committed to delivering evidence-aligned wellbeing practices underpinned by the following overarching areas:
Teaching respectful behaviour
Fostering belonging
Focusing on attendance
Promoting mental health and wellbeing
Enabling motivation
Targeting individual learning needs
Our teaching teams work collaboratively to support students' learning, wellbeing and behavioural needs within a multi-tiered system of supports framework.
The school's beautiful surroundings play a pivotal role in supporting and nuturing the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of all school community members.
Mac, our friendly labrador, is a valued member of the St Thomas community. He attends school three days a week, supporting student wellbeing and creating a calm, nurturing presence in the learning environment.
With his gentle nature and steady temperament, Mac offers comfort, companionship and a sense of reassurance to the students he spends time with. His presence also contributes positively to the overall regulation and atmosphere of each classroom he visits.
We understand that not everyone is comfortable around dogs, and we are committed to respecting individual needs. Students who prefer not to interact with Mac will always be supported in their choice.
